ACB Opens Disproportionate Assets Case
Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials have carried out searches at multiple properties linked to Rangareddy district tehsildar Dasari Srinivas Reddy following allegations that he accumulated wealth and properties disproportionate to his known income.
The searches were conducted at his residence in Hastinapuram, within the limits of the LB Nagar police station, as part of a case registered against him over alleged corruption and the accumulation of illegal assets.
According to Rangareddy ACB DSP Anand Kumar, allegations were received against Srinivas Reddy during his tenure as Divisional Administrative Officer at the RDO office in Ibrahimpatnam.
The allegations included corruption as well as the alleged accumulation of money and property through unlawful means. Following an inquiry into the complaints, ACB officials obtained permission from the Director General and registered a disproportionate assets case against the official.
The searches were subsequently launched as part of the investigation.
Searches Conducted at Around Seven Locations
On Thursday, ACB teams carried out searches simultaneously at approximately seven locations connected to Srinivas Reddy. His residence was among the properties searched by the officials.
The operation is focused on identifying assets, cash and other valuables that may be relevant to the investigation. Officials have continued examining documents and other material recovered during the searches.
So far, investigators have identified around eight open plots in different locations.
Three open plots were found in Turkyamjal, while another three were identified in Yadagirigutta. One open plot was located in Hastinapuram and another in Vishweshwar Nagar Colony.
The identification of these properties is part of an ongoing assessment of the assets linked to the official. ACB teams are continuing their searches to determine whether additional properties, cash or valuables are connected to the case.
Assets Recorded at Rs 6.66 Crore So Far
According to officials, properties with a recorded value of approximately Rs 6.66 crore have been identified during the searches so far.
In addition to the properties, investigators have found household articles estimated to be worth around Rs 11 lakh.
Officials have cautioned that the recorded or registration value of the properties may not reflect their actual market value. Based on a preliminary assessment, the market value of the identified assets could be substantially higher.
The initial estimate places the combined market value at between Rs 70 crore and more than Rs 75 crore, according to the information provided by ACB officials.
However, the searches and assessment are still underway. Officials are continuing to examine the properties and other assets before arriving at a final valuation.
Investigation Continues
The simultaneous searches form part of the wider investigation into the allegations against Srinivas Reddy. The ACB is examining the assets identified during the operation along with records and other material relevant to the disproportionate assets case.
The properties identified across Turkyamjal, Yadagirigutta, Hastinapuram and Vishweshwar Nagar Colony are among the assets that have come to light so far.
The officials have not yet concluded their search, with further examination of properties, cash and valuable items continuing as part of the investigation.
The case stems from allegations concerning the accumulation of wealth beyond the official's known sources of income. The ACB's action follows the preliminary inquiry and the subsequent approval from the department's Director General to register the case.
ACB Appeals to Public Over Bribery
Alongside details of the searches, ACB officials have urged members of the public to report instances of corruption involving government employees.
Officials said people should approach the Anti-Corruption Bureau without fear if a government employee demands a bribe for carrying out an official duty.
They appealed to citizens to immediately inform the ACB whenever a public servant demands a bribe or engages in corrupt practices.
The ACB has also provided the helpline number 1064 for reporting such complaints.
The ongoing searches in the LB Nagar-linked case are expected to establish the full extent and value of the assets identified during the investigation. For now, officials have reported eight open plots and assets with a recorded value of approximately Rs 6.66 crore, while the preliminary market-value assessment is significantly higher.
