A police constable stationed at Lakdikapool faces formal legal action after a woman accused him of a decade-long deceit, including forced abortions and a surprise wedding to another partner.
A Decade of Unfulfilled Promises
In a troubling case highlighting allegations of deceit and breach of trust within law enforcement ranks, a police constable stationed in Hyderabad has been formally charged following a detailed complaint by a long-term partner. The victim, who approached local authorities after learning of the officer's secret wedding to another woman, outlined a decade-long ordeal marked by broken commitments, emotional pressure, and physical hardship.
The incident centers on 34-year-old Shetty Arun Kumar, a constable currently serving in the Lakdikapool area of Hyderabad. According to law enforcement officials at the Uppal Police Station, the complainant filed a detailed statement recounting how their relationship first began over ten years ago.
The two originally crossed paths between 2013 and 2015 while the woman was pursuing her Master of Technology (M.Tech) degree in the city. What started as an acquaintance quickly developed into a serious personal relationship, underpinned by assurances from Kumar that he intended to build a life together and eventually marry her.
Allegations of Coercion and Systemic Delay
According to the narrative provided to the police, the relationship turned deeply abusive as time progressed. Trusting his repeated commitments of marriage, the victim remained in the relationship for years. However, she alleges that whenever the topic of formalizing their union was raised, Kumar routinely engineered delays and made excuses to avoid taking concrete steps.
Among the primary justifications provided by the constable was the issue of caste differences. The complainant alleged that Kumar repeatedly cited societal and familial pressures surrounding their differing caste backgrounds as the primary obstacle, asking for more time while assuring her that he would eventually persuade his family to accept the match.
The victim's formal complaint details even darker elements of the relationship. She revealed to investigating officers that she became pregnant on two separate occasions during their years together. On both occasions, when she expressed a desire to keep the child and proceed with marriage, Kumar allegedly pressured her into undergoing abortions, reassuring her each time that they would start a family only after their official marriage took place.
A Hidden Wedding Leads to Legal Action
The long-standing arrangements collapsed on July 1, 2026, when the complainant discovered that Kumar had secretly organized and completed a marriage ceremony with another woman, completely cutting ties with his longtime partner. Upon confirming the marriage, the victim recognized that the years of promised commitments were a deliberate pattern of misrepresentation.
Faced with the reality of the situation, the victim approached the Uppal police to seek legal recourse and justice. She requested immediate and strict legal action against the constable for his deceptive conduct, emotional exploitation, and the severe physical toll caused by the forced medical procedures.
Upon receiving the formal statement and evaluating the gravity of the charges, the Uppal police registered an official case against Constable Shetty Arun Kumar. Investigators are currently gathering supporting evidence, documenting witness statements, and evaluating the victim's claims as part of the initial legal process.
Departmental authorities have also been notified of the registered criminal case involving the Lakdikapool constable. Further official proceedings and administrative reviews are expected to follow as the police investigation continues.
