Applications for Telangana police, fire services, prisons and other uniformed service posts will be accepted from August 19. The government has also extended the upper-age limit by another two years for candidates covered by the latest notifications.
Applications Begin August 19
Candidates seeking government jobs in Telangana’s uniformed services can begin submitting applications from August 19, according to Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board chairman V.V. Srinivasa Rao.
In a statement issued on Saturday, Srinivasa Rao said applications would be accepted for posts across the police department as well as Fire Services, the Prisons Department, the Special Protection Force and other uniformed services covered by the latest recruitment notifications.
The announcement comes with an important change for applicants who were previously unable to apply because they crossed the prescribed upper-age limit.
Government Grants Additional Two-Year Relaxation
The Telangana government has approved an additional two-year relaxation in the upper-age limit for candidates applying for the police recruitment process.
Srinivasa Rao said the government had earlier granted a five-year relaxation through Government Order (GO) No. 87. A fresh GO, numbered 122, has now provided a further two-year relaxation.
As a result, candidates will receive two additional years on top of the five-year relaxation that had already been granted. The latest decision effectively expands the age-relaxation provision available under the earlier order.
The additional relaxation is aimed at candidates who were unable to submit applications earlier because they did not fall within the applicable age limit.
Four Recruitment Notifications Covered
The newly announced two-year age relaxation will apply to all four job notifications issued by the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board on July 29, 2026.
According to the recruitment board, the notifications cover several categories of uniformed service positions.
These include Civil Constable and equivalent posts, Civil Sub-Inspector and equivalent posts, Mechanic/Driver Constable positions, and Assistant Sub-Inspector posts in the Finger Print Bureau.
The board clarified that the additional age concession applies to each of these four notifications.
Opportunity for Candidates Who Missed Out Earlier
The decision is expected to provide another opportunity for candidates who had previously been prevented from applying solely because of the age requirement.
With the additional two-year relaxation now applicable to the July 29 notifications, such applicants will be able to consider submitting their applications during the recruitment window beginning August 19, subject to the other eligibility conditions prescribed for the respective posts.
The recruitment board’s announcement specifically highlighted the benefit for candidates who could not apply earlier due to the age limit.
Applications Across Multiple Uniformed Services
The recruitment exercise covers more than conventional police posts, extending to several departments and services where candidates are recruited for uniformed positions.
The police department is among the key services covered, alongside Fire Services, the Prisons Department and the Special Protection Force. The four notifications issued on July 29 set out the respective categories of posts for which recruitment is being undertaken.
Candidates applying for the different positions will therefore need to consider the eligibility requirements applicable to the particular post they are seeking.
Fresh Age Limit Clarification
The latest government order provides a significant clarification for applicants concerned about the upper-age requirement.
The earlier five-year relaxation granted under GO No. 87 remains relevant, while GO No. 122 adds another two years to that concession. The recruitment board has confirmed that the additional relaxation will be applied to the four notifications released on July 29.
The clarification is particularly relevant to candidates who had reached the previous upper-age threshold and therefore could not participate in the recruitment process.
Recruitment Process Moves Forward
With applications scheduled to open on August 19, the latest announcement sets out both the application timeline and the revised age-relaxation provision for candidates.

The four notifications include recruitment for Civil Constable and equivalent posts, Civil Sub-Inspector and equivalent posts, Mechanic/Driver Constable posts and ASI positions in the Finger Print Bureau.
The additional two-year relaxation, combined with the five-year concession previously granted through GO No. 87, broadens the pool of candidates who can seek consideration under the latest recruitment notifications.
According to chairman V.V. Srinivasa Rao, the new relaxation will apply specifically to the four notifications issued on July 29, 2026, giving candidates who previously missed the opportunity because of age another chance to apply when the recruitment process opens on August 19.
