Pahadishareef police have cracked the murder mystery of a 21-year-old nurse in Tukkuguda, arresting a bike mechanic who surveilled her room before breaking in, taking her life, and committing sexual assault.
In a swift investigation, the Pahadishareef police under the Shamshabad commissionerate resolved the murder and assault case of a 21-year-old nurse in Tukkuguda. Authorities arrested the suspect, identified as 34-year-old Md Sanaullah, a bike mechanic originally hailing from Bihar. Officials confirmed that the accused carried out a deliberate, targeted attack on the victim before attempting to cover his tracks.
Addressing the media on Monday, Shamshabad Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Rajesh outlined the details of the investigation. The victim, a native of Chowtigudem village in Mulakalapally mandal, Bhadradri Kothagudem district, had relocated to Maheshwaram a year ago in search of employment opportunities. Seven months prior to the incident, she secured a position as a nurse at Prime Care Hospital in Tukkuguda and resided in rented staff quarters located near the medical facility.
A Calculated Intrusion and Violent Encounter
The suspect, Md Sanaullah, worked as a mechanic at Sri Bhagyalakshmi Bike Mechanic Shop located near the nurse’s quarters and lived on the shop premises. According to police reports, Sanaullah had been tracking the victim’s daily movements for over a month. Investigators recovered evidence from his mobile phone, including photographs of the victim’s room, indicating prior surveillance.
On Friday night, after completing her day shift, the victim returned to her residence. Her roommate, also a nurse, departed shortly after for a night shift at the hospital. Left alone in the accommodation, the victim locked the main door and spent time on her phone until around 11:00 PM before going to sleep. Police noted that the aluminium window panels of the room were structural weak points, providing a view from the outside.
Investigators revealed that Sanaullah observed the room through the window while drinking alcohol and watching explicit content late into the night. Taking advantage of the victim being alone, he entered the room through the compromised window and attempted to assault her. The victim woke up, raised an alarm, and fiercely resisted the attacker. In an effort to defend herself, she scratched his neck and chest with her nails and bit the pinky finger of his left hand.
Enraged by her resistance, the suspect assaulted her physically, threw her to the floor, and strangled her to death. Following her death, the accused committed sexual assault before fleeing the scene.
Discovery of the Crime Scene and Investigation
The crime came to light on Saturday afternoon when the victim's roommate returned from her shift. Finding the door locked and receiving no response to repeated knocks, she alerted the hospital staff. The personnel subsequently notified the Pahadishareef police, who arrived at the scene and forced entry into the room.
Upon entering, officers found the victim unresponsive on the floor with visible injuries on her face and legs. The body was transferred to Osmania General Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Following a formal complaint lodged by the victim's maternal aunt, police registered a case and initiated a full-scale homicide investigation. Charges against the accused include murder, rape, and relevant sections under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Phone Call Records Lead to Breakthrough
Initial questioning of local residents and nearby workers included Sanaullah, who initially denied any knowledge of the event. However, a crucial lead emerged when a local resident informed investigators that Sanaullah had called him in the middle of the night asking for petrol.
Acting on this information, police reviewed surveillance footage from nearby CCTV cameras. The footage captured Sanaullah leaving the location on his motorcycle during the late night hours and returning later. Police detained him for further questioning and examined his mobile device, where they discovered saved images of the victim's room along with adult media content.
Faced with physical evidence—including scratch marks on his body and bite marks on his hand matching the victim's struggle—and detailed technical evidence, Sanaullah confessed to the crime during interrogation.
Police records state that Md Sanaullah, a native of Rudauli in Begusarai district, Bihar, had moved to Hyderabad three years ago for work. He is married and has a son. His pregnant wife had recently returned to their home village in Bihar for her delivery.
Community Bids Farewell in Final Rites
The final rites of the 21-year-old victim were performed on Monday at her native village of Chowtigudem in Bhadradri Kothagudem district. A large gathering of family, local residents, and political representatives attended the funeral to pay their respects.
Ashwaraopeta MLA Jare Adinarayana, along with former MLAs Tati Venkateswarlu and Mecha Nageswara Rao, joined the procession. MLA Adinarayana personally served as a pallbearer during the funeral procession, offering condolences to the grieving family and assuring them of full support from the authorities and local leadership.
